Profile Information

I am a YOGA:
Studio Owner, Teacher, Student
Main Website, Blog or other Profile Page
http://eightfoldarts.com
My main yoga teacher / studio / style is...
I trained at the Ananda Institut of Livng Yoga, the Style is Ananda Yoga. I have also studied Chinese Qi Gong for years. I explore many styles and draw from Bikram, Forest, and Vinyasa traditions to make my teaching a flowing, eclectic mix.
One of the funniest (saddest, bizarre) thing that's ever happened (to me) in class is...
The first time I assisted a woman into doing her first succesful handstand. She said it brougt back a flood of emotions and she began to cry!... while she was telling me about it, a woman from the other side of the classroom experienced the same thing!
Why do you 'do' (and/or teach) yoga.
I teach yoga because I discovered the healing and transformatve aspects of the practice. As a firefighter and martial arts practitioner, I needed heeling. The practice of yoga brought back my shoulder stregth, helped my neck and feet and brought me over all joy!
More about me & my (yoga) work:
My blog is: http://eightfoldarts.blogspot.com/

I have been studying Yoga and Internal arts since 1998, after suffering adversity and injury I have discovered that a serious dedicated practice and Yoga lifestyle created healing in his body, heart, and mind. I aspire to aid in transforming the "hardness" of everyday life into a peaceful journey of self realization.

Icomes to Teaching with a background in the spirituality of Raja Yoga. He has studied Chinese Qigong, and holds a Brown sash in the art of Tsunjo Wing Chun/ Xiong Xiang Kung Fu. He has earned his Yoga Alliance 200 hr training at Ananda Institute of Living Yoga. He is Fit Tour Certified as a yoga instructor and Apex Certified as a personal trainer. Brian is also pusuing a 2nd 200 hr Cert Under Dennis Egan. As a professional firefighter I also is an EMT and is very adept at recognizing physical limitations and assists people with compassion and enthusiasm.

Posted on January 28, 2011 at 11:58pm 0 Comments

Often wherever I teach yoga elements of the ancient art of QiGong are feathered in. Most people don't even notice. When practicing the movement of energy throught the vital centers of the body, the question becomes "Why not one tradition over another?" My intuituion has begun to guide me as tools from various traditions are added to my reportoir I have began to understand that a wrench is sometimes needed when the rest of the situation is accomplished with a screwdriver. Therefore I honor the…

Hi Brian. Welcome to YogaBlaze!

Wow - a firefighter yogi. So great to know you are out there doing your work.

The launch to the 30,000 Seattle yogis happened today so keep playing around and fill in the pieces about yourself with photos, audio, blog posts (all that is free).

Put up your special events & workshops on the calendar*. (No regular classes on this please).

The Yoga STYLE pages are now available. Consider which style you might want to be linked to.*

*NOTE: You must be an annual PRO Member to use events & Styles.

Check out these great articles for teachers in the discussions area, too.
